introducing: sweet evy

By | Personal | 4 Comments

it’s been pointed out to me (several times…) that our little baby has yet to make an appearance on this blog. i keep saying she’ll show up when we find a second to take some ‘professional’ pictures of her. but then i finally realized the real reason we keep putting it off- that’s just not how we photograph. we love photography because we capture real life as it happens- the moments when genuine happiness and deep love are apparent on the faces, and in the movements, of our subjects. this is why we have yet to post a ‘perfect’ ‘professional’ photo of our baby girl- images from our life never yield a picture like the baby photos we had taken of us in studios growing up. but now that i’ve realized, admitted and quickly made peace with that, let me share one of my favorite images of our sweet, squirmy, strong little lady, introducing: evy.

(pronounced EH-vee, like evelyn, but just evy)

lindsay & quintin are married!

i read somewhere yesterday that people in general are their happiest when the air temperature is 57 degrees. but i beg to differ. living in atlanta for the last 6 years has shown me that really, any day past mid-september that maxes out under 80 degrees sends this town into a flurry of happiness. it’s fall! college football! pumpkin bread (lattes, muffins, pancakes, etc)! baseball playoffs (tear…)! everyone is outside, everyone is smiling, everyone is energized and ready to celebrate! and THAT was the spirit with which everyone enjoyed lindsay & quintin’s wedding day. :) the laughter was abundant as i captured the ladies getting ready while reminiscing and the overall excited energy of the day was shared by everyone (stress free thanks to the lovely ashley baber). the sun was warm and the decor was perfectly balanced on the line between summer fun and the golden beginnings of fall. (beautifully created by juli vaughn) lindsay & quintin partied at the center of their closest friends and family, celebrating their love and the beginning of their new life together. as happy as the first hints of fall make everyone else, lindsay & quintin will always remember this beautiful time with a bit more tenderness than the rest of us. :)

sydney & richard are married!

sunday brunch is a pretty sacred meal for us. since saturday brunch is often out of the question, our weekend brunching happens on sundays and we relish the patio sitting, bloody mary sipping and biscuits with jam munching. but with sydney & richard living out of state we decided to open our sunday brunch slot to meet them- turns out, this was the perfect decision! somehow, these two understand and appreciate the art of weekend brunching just as much as we do- in fact, they had already had a big sunday meal and met us just a couple of hours later for another- that is commitment i appreciate. needless to say, we love these two and enjoyed getting to know them. they are fun and down to earth, brimming with happiness and obvious love for one another and those around them. matt was the lucky one to photograph their beautiful wedding day at one of our favorite venues- the farm at old edward’s inn– have i mentioned before how much we love the mountains of north carolina? ;)

sydney & richard’s first look was sweet and a touch emotional for the couple- as well as the bridesmaids watching (swooning) quietly from the balcony. usually, we keep the first look pretty private but for sydney & richard it was perfect to include some of their very favorite people:

i love the series of photos that matt captured when sydney’s dad saw her for the first time- definitely click through to their photocart for more from this moment!

sydney & richard, congratulations!! we are so happy for you two. thank you so so much for having matt there to capture such a beautiful celebration!
