bonnie & david are engaged!

By | Engagement Sessions | 12 Comments

we arrived at david’s family’s home on saturday and little did we know that as we walked inside david was out finishing his 90+ mile bike ride of the day! what?!! isn’t he going to be exhausted for pictures? bonnie arrived looking beautiful and stylish (as you’ll see) and we talked about her wedding for a bit. their day is going to be so uniquely them! fresh herbs and greenery complimented with twigs are replacing flowers, and bonnie’s mom is hand making her wedding dress, the design of which is nothing short of stunning! we’re so excited! david arrived full of energy (how??) and after grabbing bananas, crackers and cookies, we headed out to our first location, a shining river part of the headwaters of the little tennessee.

bonnie and david had really thought out different locations for the day which was great! their next stop for us was a beautiful lake:

after attempting to feed the ducks (who fled our cracker crumbs, when does that ever happen?) we were off to bucks, the coffee shop where bonnie and david had their first date – not quite planned, a friend bailed leaving them alone together, but a first date after all! it’s been five years since that night, they told us how they’ve changed individually and changed together, but they clearly haven’t lost that spark!

after warming up and swapping stories the four of us headed out to sunset rock. this was my favorite location of the day, wow! bonnie’s fantastic hair caught the wind and the sun together and their smiles were the result of endless laughter. watching bonnie button his cuffs and david hold her hair out of her eyes, i saw how special they are to one another. they’ve spent years strengthening this bond and i’ve no doubt their future is bright.

we left the sunset and headed to a nice dinner. it was a wonderful time spent laughing, talking, and getting to know each other. thank you guys so much for everything, you are such a fun and inspirational couple, we are so glad to call you our friends. we are looking forward to may 16th!

on a side note, there was another special part of their shoot, keep an eye out for it coming soon!

first and foremost, sally and andrew’s gallery is up on the website!

welcome to my world:

i love to cook. this was going to come out at some point, so here it is. now, you’re might be wondering, why is this a “confession” to admit? <- is not the confession, this is -> i waste more time than anyone i know looking at recipes online. i decide on a main ingredient, google it, click every link on the results page and read them all. from there i regoogle, reclick, and read again. i then combine around 4 recipes, and make up my own. at this point my confession gets worse, and my cheeks (which i really hate to call attention to) get pinker. there is a bit of an unspoken rule at our dinner table, after one bite matt has to say if he loves it or likes it (he never dislikes anything, thank goodness!). this splits us two ways: 1. he likes it, i exclaim, ‘i made it up!’ 2. he pauses, i exclaim, ‘i based this on someone else’s recipe!’ what this says about me, i don’t know, but i feel much better with it out in the open…

in other news, i’m excited to meet my friend bonnie in person this weekend, haha! since they first decided we were shooting their wedding, bonnie and i sent tons of messages and i really do forget sometimes we’ve never met! i love that though, we will all be relaxed and comfortable shooting this weekend. bonnie’s older sister, becky and i keep in touch as well (she actually referred us to bonnie), she described bonnie to me as ‘martha stewart’ so now i think that maybe i should delete my previous paragraph…but i think she’ll understand. anyway, check back for some engagement pics soon!

it’s impossible to explain how music can so perfectly portray love, but as sally and andrew sang together in the park on saturday, i saw it. we kept our cameras tight to our eyes as andrew strummed and he and sally sang softly about their faith, their love, and their hope. they finished with a beautiful song they wrote together, barely able to take their eyes off each other and smiling the whole time. sigh :)

we had a great time with sally and andrew. they are infectiously fun and in love; our high energy shoot was more like a play date than an engagement session! here are a few of our faves:

thank you sally and andrew for a wonderful afternoon, we cannot even wait for april 26th!
