anna & ray are married!

By | Weddings | 6 Comments

last saturday was the perfect day for a wedding. the fall air was a little crisp and the sun was kicking through the trees at the gardens at great oaks in roswell, georgia. it was anna and ray’s day- a day they had been waiting seven years for, a day so beautiful they deserved it. they were in high school when it all started; the first date was to stone mountain where they returned years later for a surprise engagement! i always get excited when i meet a couple who has come as far as they have; it bodes so well for a long and happy future. there are no doubts about this couple! here are a few of our favorite shots; let’s start off with anna’s great grandmother’s earrings. she wore them in her hair for her ‘something old,’ and they were stunning. what a creative idea!

there were lots of beautiful ladies ready for the bouquet toss:

anna & ray, thank you so much for having us! we loved how calm yet exciting your day was. we so respect your long commitment to each other and we wish you the best for years to come! i am so jealous of your asheville honeymoon, what a perfect choice for this time of year! i’m sure we’ll run into you soon, we look forward to it! congratulations!

mallory & marlon are married!

there is something magical about watching two lovers and two families become one. that phenomenon has never been more beautiful than it was at mallory and marlon’s wedding. family was the focus of the day and was woven into every detail of the day from the intimate ceremony in telfair square– the only square in savannah named after a family- to the personalized place cards marked with phrases to spawn discussion and friendship. matt and i were both overwhelmed by the tenderness of this couple- the poem they read together as their vows sums up perfectly what i’m trying to say. i could tell story after story about this couple and their wonderful families, but i’ll do that as we go- let’s get started with some images!

after a quick trip to the salon mallory & marlon were up for a few portraits around downtown savannah. they are in love with the city -we are too now!- and they knew exactly a few locations they wanted images taken, awesome!

the staging area was a museum across from the square, the white interior and huge windows made for some of our favorite images of the day!

marlon’s grandparents were too sweet and full of love and advice for the couple as they waited to walk to the ceremony. this is our new favorite image ever:

mallory and marlon were practicing their vows until the last minute and they were perfect at the ceremony!

their reception was held in the beautiful upstairs room at garibaldi’s– walking distance from the ceremony. it was a beautiful day and everyone arrived at the reception ready for more fun:

mallory’s dad looks on as everyone tapped their glasses, encouraging the newlyweds to kiss:

there were some seriously tear-jerking toasts. when marlon talked about the personal gift mallory’s dad presented to him there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

the rest of the evening there was lots of dancing and laughing and enjoying one another. quite the perfect way to top off a wonderful day.

!

mallory & marlon, thank you for inviting us into your family for a day, we truly felt like we’d known you forever! you two are amazing people and together you’re perfect. i hope we see you again- you helped us fall in love with savannah, no doubt we’ll be visiting again!  thank you again for everything and best wishes!

ashley & david are married!

saturday seriously rocked. ashley and david were incredible. i’ll talk about all the looove stuff in a second but first can i please tell you how awesomely organized they were!? although ashley and david did not want to see each other before the wedding, they had arranged to be ready in time to take some more creative bridal party pictures prior to the ceremony, family pictures after the ceremony and then dedicated the next 30 minutes to some time alone with us for couple portraits. we love them for that! it always seems to be the plan to get a few of those formal shots taken before the ceremony but rarely is there enough time. these guys not only made time to take the pictures- they built in time for us to really explore the property and take tons of different shots of them with their best friends! ashley and david- thank you so much for making things happen!

ok back to their amazing day. the girls spent most of the day (pre-ceremony) together in a little cottage and it seemed to be such an uplifting time for ashley. it was beautiful to watch all of ashley’s friends and family together, sharing laughs and hugs and encouragement with her. by the time the ceremony rolled around ashley couldn’t stop smiling and was more than ready to get things underway.

we are often asked if we shoot ‘formal’ pictures. we always tell people that we do take them but usually we don’t present them on the blog because it’s just not where we’re able to be most creative. with all of the time ashley set aside on saturday we were able to take the time to get some of our favorite formal shots ever. bold of me to say? maybe. but i just love these!

when it came time for couple photos the light was piercing and golden. the backdrop of dunaway gardens was incredible and ashley and david were able to relax and let their commitment to one another sink in while we made some images.

now to the reception! they have seriously the best taste in music ever and they love to party! i watched a few guests talk matt into dancing for a second -totally hysterical- but the music was so awesome it was just too hard for him to say no!

ashley & david, thank you both so much for including us in your day. everything was so natural and beautiful and we loved capturing it all. right now matt and i are sitting on the couch talking about how jealous we are that you’re on the west coast relaxing together and in general having the time of your lives! can’t wait to hear from you when you get back, they’ll be so many more images on the way to you so soon!
