tiffany & andrew are married!

By | Weddings | 6 Comments

when you know you just know; and tiffany and andrew knew.

they met at a thanksgiving dinner, got engaged on a skydiving trip three months later and were married last weekend in the quaint little town of sandersville, ga.  like i said, when you know you know! :)

their wedding day was calm and smooth.  tiffany’s direction to the florist was just ‘pink’ and the florals were beautiful; she hired vendors she trusted and let them do what they do best, quite impressive!  the ladies danced and sang to some of their favorite old songs as they casually curled their hair and munched on fruit and cheese before heading down the aisle.

a rare moment of sweet serenity for this energetic cart-wheeling flower girl!

i was really touched to see these two images and really wanted to show them together.  seeing these pictures like this speaks volumes to where their hearts were all day and says a lot about them as a couple.  love it.

andrew and his older brother scott just before the ceremony.

this cake was stellar!  so creatively and carefully decorated…i probably took waaay too many pictures of it! :)

a quick break for a few outdoor couple shots before resuming partying!

matt and i are both pretty in love with this picture of grandma: :)

tiffany and andrew you two are incredible together!  it was so sweet to watch you enjoy one another and your loved ones, you have a very special group of people to encourage you in your new life together!  thank you so much for asking us to be part of your day!

lucy & grant are married!

we love lucy and grant, i really don’t know where to start telling you about them so i’ll start with our arrival.  to the rehearsal dinner friday night.  an hour and a half early.  pfff, central time! :)

i would love to write about the joyful tears and the sweet toasts and the abundance of hugs that night, but i’m going to control myself and dive straight into the wedding day instead.

tee time was 8:30 for the men so i dropped matt off and headed back to the hotel to finish getting ready before the bridesmaid’s luncheon at 10:30.  it’s very rare that matt meets up with the guys earlier than i start shooting hair and makeup; it was a nice change of pace.

the luncheon was at emma’s tea room, a perfectly intimate and girly eatery in downtown huntsville, alabama.  surrounded by her best friends and lovely family members, lunch at the tea room was such an encouraging way for lucy to start her day.

lucy’s mom is such a creative and thoughtful woman; she had come up with so many surprises for the girls!  my favorite detail she surprised everyone with was a charm cake.  having not seen this before i watched through my camera as the ladies encircled a sweet little cake with looped ribbons overflowing from the center.  everyone was instructed to pull a ribbon from the cake and at the end of each was a little charm that was supposed to represent your bright future.  i was snapping away when i felt her mom touch my arm and say ‘you aren’t going to leave your future in that cake are you!?’ what a sweet lady to include a future for the little ol’ photographer, it made me feel so loved!

full and happy the girls all went separate ways to get ready for the wedding.  with as many bridesmaids as lucy had it would really have been tough to get ready in the same place!  i jumped in the car with lucy and headed to her childhood home to meet her stylist(s).  lucy, your shower curtain makes this shot, haha!

meanwhile, the guys started a little of their own getting ready back at the hotel.

a few last minute touch ups, a prayer, and some hastily wiped away tears later lucy and her dad found themselves alone, counting down the seconds until it was time to walk down the aisle.  her dad was beaming and lucy’s watery eyes were the result of pure joy and excitement.

ah, they did it!  and it went perfectly, and that one kiss at the front of the church was not nearly enough to celebrate!  i love this picture of lucy’s friends looking up at her as she hugged her mom after the ceremony:

we grabbed a few portraits as the sun set behind the church before heading to the reception at the huntsville country club.

and now the party starts, these pictures do not need much narration, the love really shines though!

quite a dip there lucy!

lucy and her little brother – they are dancing like crazy!!

matt likes to call this shot the ‘garter search’!

and they’re off!

lucy and grant, you guys are amazing and we’re so excited you asked us to be a part of such a special day, we had a great time!  we’re also really excited you’ll be settling in atlanta, enjoy the honeymoon, hope to see you soon! :)

jessica & mark are married!

By | Weddings | 4 Comments

we got to tybee island early enough sunday morning to stop for a big breakfast before shooting.  over coffee (and coffee refills :)) we went through our normal routine:

* read over their contract and questionnaire to refresh ourselves on what is most important to them about their day

* talked about how to creatively capture “must have shots” based on our environments

* brainstormed how to shoot this wedding better than we’ve ever shot before

this conversation happens before every shoot we do, it’s important to us to remain creative and fresh, and it was especially important to us on sunday as we sat there preparing to shoot our second wedding of the weekend, and the wedding of a good friend of matt’s.

i didn’t know jessica well so i walked into their beach house a little behind matt expecting to wait for all of the joyous greetings to subside before i introduced myself.  jessica and her ladies had other plans and immediately i was whisked into their lives and felt right at home!  i really love getting to know bridal parties while i shoot, everyone is always so thrilled to be there and it really inspires me!  jess and her ladies had a relaxing morning planned, they told stories and kept each other (and me) laughing over coffee and diet coke.  love them!

i think i heard jess say she was about to get in the shower 15 times before she finally tore herself away from her friends to start officially getting ready, it was just that good of a time!

meanwhile mark and the guys started their own version of getting ready including: burgers, ping pong, and finally…ties.

we took a few beach shots before the ceremony, this is my fave:

on the way to the ceremony site, perfectly beach-y tulle!

earlybirds at the ceremony:

jessica and mark had personalized fans as programs, double duty, great idea!

and it begins, here’s a sweet photo of jessica’s father taking one last glance at his daughter before he gives her heart to mark.

yeay!  they did it!! after the ceremony we shot a few family pics, mark has a huge family and we took this one with the bird for fun:

a few more beach shots (love the tiptoes!) before the reception:

oh, you know this song!! :)

toward the end of the night jessica’s grandparents led everyone in a greek dance!

and they’re off for their huge honeymoon!

jessica and mark, you guys rock, seriously!  we loved spending the day getting to know you all better.  it was especially sweet for matt to see so many great friends and for me to meet them all! :) enjoy your new life to the fullest!!!!
