Amanda & Jake are Married!

augusta wedding photography 24This time of year always sends me into reflection- how the previous year has changed me, how the previous 5 years- even 10 years- have molded Kate and me into the family we are today. As we have changed, so has our work. Photographs taken when we started ALTMIX Photography almost 8 years ago look pretty different than the images I make today. Some of you have walked this with us- you’ve seen us stretch ourselves and grow and change into the photographers we are today- and you’ve stuck with us through it all. It is not without a little apprehension that we thank you when we hear you’ve followed our work since the beginning- I want to immediately explain how much I’ve learned and matured- but it’s in those moments that I realize my images still speak the same language they did 8 years ago and you understand that language and ‘get’ my point of view. Amanda is one of those people. She has kept up with our work since 2008 when we photographed a friend of hers. That’s 7 years! What a privilege for me to be able to photograph her wedding all these years later!

Ciara & Zach are Married!

atlanta wedding photography 41As I sit here on the couch, legs covered with a festive plaid blanket, hot tea with cream and sugar steaming to my right and the Christmas tree sparkling in front of me, I cannot help but smile that Ciara & Zach are the couple I’m sharing with you from this cozy setting. Somehow it just fits in my mind- they are such family oriented people with deep love and care for those around them. When Matt and I met up with them, we learned how they are currently renovating an entire homestead- carefully picking out every detail to create the most wonderful setting for their future. They are confident in one another and so comfortable together- being around them and hearing about their philosophies on life and work and family is inspiring. It kind of seems like they feel all the time the way many people just feel around the holiday season- do you know what I mean? Bottom line, we’re happy to know these two and thrilled that Matt could be there to capture their wedding day.

With Matt shooting most weddings these days by himself, I must say- I am always so impressed not only by the diversity of his shots but also how he seems to be in two places at once- let’s take these next two images as an example. Just beautiful. (he’s my husband so I can brag on him if i want;)
Ciara & Zach, congratulations! We are so happy for you both- you guys are great together. :) Thank you for having Matt there to capture such a great day!

it’s our favorite thing to work with couples who just ‘get’ what we do. to be trusted completely and encouraged to just ‘do what we do,’ is really when we feel free to relax into our surroundings and capture the beauty we see around us. amanda & josh are these kind of folks- relaxed and laid back and fun. they truly enjoyed their wedding day- connecting with friends and family- chatting, dancing, laughing and celebrating- and laughing some more. :) spending the day with them was comfortable and fun- capturing their special brand of silliness and deep love was a joy. these two kept a smile on my face all day and we feel so lucky to have photographed such a perfect celebration of two wonderful people!

amanda & josh’s wedding took place at the peachtree club– 28 floors above midtown atlanta.

guests enjoyed king of pops on their way to the ceremony- my favorite and an atlanta staple!

seriously, photographing two people this happy together is just the best! :)

amanda & josh, you guys are the best. :) thank you so much for having us there to capture such an excellent celebration!
